On 16th June 2015 the annual Italian Digital Health Summit, a key event in the life science & healthcare sector, will take place in Milan. The conference is organized by About Pharma and Medical Devices and patronized inter alia by the Department of Health, AIFA (the Italian Regulatory Authority). The digitalization of any of our action produces an huge quantity of data. This Big Data comes from multiple sources at an impressive velocity, volume and variety. Stakeholders are more and more aware of this valuable asset and are very proactive in the production of data and in adopting systems and technologies able to process this data. In this scenario European data protection rules seem to be a burden or a safeguard, depending on the standpoint.
