As you might recall from our previous post, each year the Italian Communication Authority (Agcom) starts a procedure for the approval of guidelines – as issued by the Lega Nazionale Professionisti Serie A – regarding the sale of media rights for the Italian football seasons .
This year Agcom will assess the seasons 2015/2016, 2016/2017, 2017/2018. Within this 19 February 2014, operators with a direct and actual interest in the procedure have the possibility to provide the Authority with information and briefs, including proposals for the modification of the guidelines.
The scope of the guidelines is to govern the marketing and commercialization of media rights for the above seasons, so as to ensure transparency and a non-discriminatory competition among the various operators interested in the purchase of the media rights.
